PORTLAND – Judge Michaela Murphy of the Maine Superior Court has denied a stay request by the LePage Administration regarding implementation of voter-approved Medicaid expansion, but set a new February 1st deadline to being enrolling eligible Mainers.

Speaker of the House Sara Gideon released the following statement:

“The Court is yet again asserting that Medicaid expansion is the law of the land and Governor LePage and his Administration are being held accountable. While I’m deeply disappointed that this needless battle has delayed the 70,000 Mainers who are eligible from receiving access to healthcare, the end is in sight. I am eager to work in partnership with Governor-elect Mills to ensure this law is followed and that more Mainers are accessing the care they deserve to be and stay well.”
