New laws prioritize working families, Maine-based businesses and economic growth

AUGUSTA – Lawmakers passed a major tax reform measure, a package of child protection bills and strategic investments in Maine’s workforce during the special session that finally adjourned Thursday.

Speaker of the House Sara Gideon, D-Freeport, released the following statement: “I am deeply grateful to adjourn sine die and that we can do so knowing we completed good work that will strengthen the middle class, support good-paying jobs and invest in a more prosperous future for all Mainers. House Democrats remained committed to staying at the table and doing the work our constituents expect and deserve from us and, in the end, made real progress for Maine families.”
