Gideon: Recovery efforts will not end until all Mainers are back in their homes
AUGUSTA – As the statewide response continues in Maine following a devastating wind storm that caused power outages to nearly a half million electricity customers as well as tree damage, flooding and property damage, thousands of Mainers are heading into the weekend working on recovery efforts.
Speaker of the House Sara Gideon issued the following statement:
“This has been an extremely difficult and trying time for many of us, but I am consistently impressed with the fortitude of Mainers. Across the state, I’ve seen neighbors helping neighbors, people gathering together, many hands working in unison and of course, a great deal of patience continually being displayed by those most adversely affected.”
“As we head into the weekend, I want to thank the women and men who continue to work overtime to make sure all Mainers eventually have a full recovery from this storm. I also want to acknowledge that there are still many people who are heading into the weekend waiting for power restoration and tree removal after this long week without electricity. Please know that all efforts will continue until every Mainer is safe and secure in their own homes.”
